South Perth is arguably Perth's most exclusive location, bounded by the stunning Swan River and boasting picturesque views across the water to the city skyline, there's no denying its beauty and aura. Placed right in the heart of South Perth is Civic Heart, amplifying a living experience like no other, connecting people and places with parks, cafes, and retail all on your doorstep. So, to bring you the best of it, we've partnered up with Civic Heart to uncover all the very best things to eat, see and do in South Perth. But First, Coffee When it comes to a good suburb, we're all about coffee per capita. And while it might not be an official way to measure how liveable a suburb is (yet), it is essential to make sure a great cup of coffee is never far away. So luckily, South Perth is bursting with cafes that not only serve liquid gold, but they also serve up some pretty epic feeds too. One of these is The Acai Corner. The food truck is right on the foreshore and located on one of Perth's most beautiful walks, so you can tackle the 10 kilometre Swan River loop then reward yourself with a coffee and a delicious acai bowl, bliss. Another local favourite not to be missed is Gusto Food. Not only do they pour up a damn good coffee, but their menu is also full of goodies, including their iconic house-made crumpets. For coffee that feels as good as it tastes, you can't go past Halo Espresso, with 100 per cent of profits from this cafe going to charity. Not only are they practically the Mother Theresa of the coffee world, but they also dish up a delicious breakfast and lunch so you can definitely feel good about over-ordering here. For all things boujee brunch, look no further than Little Banksia. Although these guys might be borderline in Kensington, they're too good not to make our list. This cute cafe has all the brekky classics plus some unique treats like their kale and corn hotcakes. It doesn't get much better than sitting in their garden and double-parking with freshly squeezed juice and coffee. So Much Space For Activities Surrounded by the Swan River and nestled beside the Foreshore, South Perth is just begging to be basked in with an abundance of stunning settings for outdoor activities. Whether it's a leisurely foreshore stroll, a relaxing picnic by the river overlooking the stunning city skyline, or getting physical on the water with a stand-up paddleboard or kayak, the opportunities are endless. South Perth is also home to the iconic Perth Zoo, where you'll find plants and animals from all corners of the globe. Expect to see exotic animals like African Lions, Sumatran Tigers, Sun Bears, Asian Elephants and heaps more. Plus, they often host epic events, so make sure to keep an eye out for the latest announcements. Settle In For A Feed If you thought we were done talking about food, think again. South Perth is loaded full of epic eateries and atmospheric bars, perfect for an afternoon frothy. At the top of our list is The Windsor Hotel. Serving up classic pub feeds and ice cold beers, the restaurant tucked inside the Windsor Hotel has got the goods to please everyone. We love their classic parmy and we can't say no to their juicy wagyu burger with chips. They've even got a garden bar that acts as the perfect spot for cocktails and a grazing board. Another South Perth institution not to be missed is Ciao Italia, who serve up some of the city's best Italian. Big call. But we will back ourselves here. Dishing up everything from woodfired pizzas, delicious fresh pastas, chilli mussels and even authentic chicken parmigiana, you seriously can't go wrong here. They even sport the iconic red and white Italian-style checkered tablecloths, so you know it's legit. If you're looking to get a little more adventurous with your cuisine, strap yourself in for a feed at Miss Chow's on the foreshore. We're talking BBQ Pork Buns, dumplings, spring rolls and spicy chicken that will have you returning again and again. Here, you'll get a modern twist on Chinese classics like sticky ribs and a variety of rice and noodle dishes — you can thank us later. If you're looking for the perfect spot to soak up that stunning South Perth view, then make a beeline for Mister Walker. Not only can you enjoy the view of the beautiful Swan River and city skyline, but you can also tuck into some seriously fresh seafood, among other delightful goodies like grazing platters and delicious entrees and nibbles. Shop Til You Drop If you take your grocery shopping seriously, then you've come to the right place, because South Perth's Angelo Street Market absolutely slays the boujee market game. Established in 1988, this market has become an institution within the community, renowned for sourcing fresh local produce and gourmet grocery lines as well as working closely with local growers and suppliers. If you're not yet sold, they've also recently just unveiled a 1.2-meter continental roll. Yep, you're going to have to see it to believe it. If you're still on the hunt for some epic produce, make sure to pay a visit to The Good Grocer, which boasts a gourmet delicatessen and kitchen, as well as being open 24 hours a day — talk about convenient! Here, you can stock up on all your fresh fruit and veggies, meat, seafood, freshly baked bread and even ready-to-go meals if you're not a fan of meal prepping. They've also got a lunch and breakfast bar, so you're sure to never go hungry here. Hot tip, they serve up a mean quiche. Keen to make all of these places your new local? Well, now you can with Civic Heart, located right in the thick of it all in South Perth.
