Our landmark South Perth development, Civic Heart, took home the awards for Urban Renewal & Apartments (High-Rise) over the weekend at the 2024 UDIA WA Awards for Excellence.
This achievement is a testament to the transformation Civic Heart has made to a former fragmented suburban block, turning it into a vibrant destination comprising 308 apartments across two towers, 26 commercial tenancies making up an extensive ground-floor commercial precinct, the activation of two heritage buildings, and the redevelopment of a central section of Mends Street to create a shared space that prioritizes pedestrian movement.
The judges noted the diversity of living choices from affordable, one-bedroom apartments to high-end three-bedroom options, making inner-city apartment living accessible to a wide range of people, as part of the reasoning behind the win for Best Apartments (High-Rise) Category.
Civic Heart is the tallest residential building in Perth, and the largest single-stage strata development in Western Australia.
The judges also noted the design of Civic Heart's ground plane which features significant public domain upgrades and blurs public-private boundaries, to create a safe, shared space, as part of the reasoning behind the win for best Urban Renewal.
